Teal is an online community for sharing video and discussing how to make it! It's a great place to share tips, tricks, or just relax and binge a show. You can even earn money selling premium content if you join the partner program.
Yes, anyone may write posts on the main feeds, or upload pictures or video. However, if you'd like to monetize your premium content, you must join the partner program.
Premium content can be purchased using the virtual currency (gems). You can buy gems at the Store page.
We ask our content creators to label their shows as AI-generated or human-made content. This way, you can easily identify the type of content you're viewing.
If you accidentally purchased gems, please contact us immediately to resolve the issue.
For content purchased with gems, if you were not satisfied with the content, you can request a refund by contacting us immediately afterwards.
Refunds are generally granted, however if you are abusing the refund policy by making repeated refund requests, we may refuse to grant further refunds. We reserve the right to refuse refunds at our discretion.
Share it, of course! Whenever a new user signs up using your referral link, they will be tracked as your referred user for their first year on the site. If you're in the partner program, you will earn 15% of any gems purchases using real money they make during that time, not including transaction fees. (This is effectively half of Teal's take, since they'll make content purchases with those gems, and the content creator earns 70%. The remaining amount, 30%, is effectively split between the website and the referrer, you.)
Yes, if you post links to your videos, shows, and articles on social media, and a new user signs up from that link, that would count as your referred user. Your referral URL is just one way to refer users, but you can also refer users to your content directly.
We support most countries, however the following are currently not allowed: Afghanistan, Belarus, Burma (Myanmar), Cote D'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Liberia, North Korea, Russia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe. This may change in the future depending on our payment processors, laws, and other matters.
When you're ready to get paid out, you'll get a request from our banking partner for information on how to complete the transfer.
Since we have to pay for payment processing fees and process the payouts, we have a minimum payout of $100 at most once per month. There is also a waiting period from the time a purchase was made on the site to when it is eligible for payout to account for possible chargebacks or refunds (typically 30 days). See the Terms of Service for more details.
Teal is made specifically for binging shows and discussing making shows, both real and AI-generated. This attracts a regular audience with daily community engagement. With Patreon and other alternatives, you're largely dependent on your own audience. At Teal, your content is discoverable by the entire community who come here regularly. This value add is why Teal has a default take rate of 50% (comparable to YouTube). By comparison, Patreon won't bring you any new audience, and you are responsible for driving all of your own traffic.
Put another way, if Teal's community can drive more purchases of your content than you could on your own, then it is worth putting your content here. This should be an easy decision, and even popular influencers should see increased purchases above and beyond what they'd get by promoting their content themselves.
The other major difference is that Teal is not built around subscriptions to creators, but rather individual purchases one at a time. This fits well with what a lot of users want: since they're often binging episodes spontaneously, they don't want to pay a monthly fee to a specialized subscription. They'd rather just buy content when they need it, and Teal is built around that idea. If you already have a Patreon, you can always keep it, but also use Teal to reach a wider audience and earn additional revenue streams.
